Memorial
Hi Waldo
Truly awesome....only came across this post this morning and have been sitting here since 5am reading through all the trials and tribulations. ( when I should have been installing a kitchen....thank god SWMBO is not here)
I have to say it is a truly beautiful piece of work....you should/must be incredibly proud. It will serve not only as a memorial to your Grandfather and Father, but to you as well.
I have one small question...what glue did you use? as I have had some grief over the years gluing Spotty.
Cheers
John M

Thanks for the comments Al B, Bob38S and Christos.
Ravna, I used Titebond III. The only problem I have had has been on extremely hot days (50º+ back during the bushfires) some glue let go in part, or where the force of timber movement was greater than the strength of the glue. But that said, things haven't parted at the glue line.
I've put a lot of faith in the glue, along with lose tenons and haven't been let down.

Funny how I didn't notice how striking the grain in the top is before now, what's the saying "look but don't see" wow.
Great work Waldo.Mike

Thanks Kevjed, it's a pity that it is all finished as I was really enjoying it, but now I get to just look at it.
Yeah m2c1Iw, the top has some great fiddleback, well it is really pure fiddleback and initially gave some problems, but they were overcome with a big drum sander and now I want one myself.
Thanks AlexS, about the only thing I didn't enjoy were times when I cut some beautiful timber too short or had the wrong router bit in and stuffed up the bottom rail of the third door in the cabinet - without that one stuff up it would have been perfectly matching rails top and bottom with lots of fiddleback.
But what can you do when Stuff-up Fairies visit sheds?
