Good luck with the build Waldo. Looks like a worthwhile project.
Would like to outfit a library one day (when i get a bigger house with enough room for a library ) so will be watching this with interest.
From the sketch it appears so but is the wall mounted bookcase identical to the top of the unit? Those were the droids I was looking for.

I've broken the camel's back
G'day,
No real progress, except about 10 44gal drums of shavings all over the gardens after about 5 days solid of thicknessing about 1 1/4 tonne of s/gum and then dimensioning to size over a period of about 2 months (3 new large clients don't help with shed time).
In amongst the timber there are some real beautiful pieces that I'm really looking forward to using.
Yesterday I was able to start gluing up the first of many panels with 5 done so far. The Domino is getting the start of a real workout, so to is the Veritas BU Smoother
SWMBO's car has been relegated to living outside for the moment.
As you can see the shed is full of timber everywhere (with another cube to come on Monday/Tuesday for another project after this current one), gradually the cabinet and book cases will take shape very soon. This weekend I expect to do all the routing for the rail and stiles.
Real progress will come in the two weeks.

That's a lot of work. I look forward to seeing the construction begin.
What's the gas-fired workbench for?.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

I always love this stage of a project, the smell of the timber, the anticipation of how, what etc will be done/solved.
Your photos and words capture this atmosphere wonderfully Waldo.- Wood Borer

Tankstand, the shed is 9m x 7m, of that 2.5m x 3.5 is taken up by my office.
Woodwould, that a very special bench, purpose built for burning snags and steak on. All the other work surfaces are for resting ales on.
Yeah Wood Borer, I love this bit too. My neighbour watching me stroking the timber to find the grain direction and just looking at it must think I'm a bit but that's all a part of the romance of it - mano o man and the timber.

G'day,
Thought I'd share this with you all. It's nothing big, I'm still gluing up panels, but I've got to a point where I'm using some of the flooring timber for the rear case panels, the ones in the shot are some of the beaut ones I've set aside just for these rear case in the bookcase.
The really nice bits are the 2nd and 3rd in the shot. I especially like the spalted one. The real nice pieces are still waiting for the panels in the doors and shelving. Shot mightn't do much justice, but in the flesh and wetted down they are beaudyful mate.
I really like how there is so much variation in the s/gum.
This panel will be cut down for two sections so they match vertically with each other, ovals in the Sketch-up model show where in the scheme of things.
