Wedding night bed ;)
When I got married earlier this month we were shouted the wedding night in a Royal Suite at Craig's Royal Hotel in Ballarat.
The room was deadset gorgeous (top floor room with an additional upstairs watchtower overlooking the city) with some lovely antique furniture; but the king size bed stood out the most. It was a bit worn, beat up and crooked in places but 100% luxurious. I'm not sure if it was solid or veneered but the two ends at the foot of the bed looked almost like they were matched (in the centre oval at least). I forgot to take a closer look at the head
The last two pics are of a hall stand just inside the room and a fireplace mantle/wall mirror/shelves that I thought were a bit spesh as well.
Sorry for the cruddy phone camera pics. You'll just have to go stay there to get a better look

Funny I cant remember any of the furniture in the room on my wedding night !

Originally I miss read the title of the thread. Welding night bed and so was expecting some person to be making a bed out of metal at night.

They would have been a matching pair of single beds. They didn't make King Size beds until later in the 20th century and those are clearly Victorian era design. Probably late Victorian.
Yes, they are veneered but that was normal practice. They are definitely antique as they are veneered over solid timber, a practice you don't see very much after the 1920's. You can see the big crack in the veneer on the left hand side where there is a join that proves my point.

Hehe. I took the pics in a last minute dash out of the room the next morning, but I (and wifeypoo) had been blathering on about all the furniture all night, and the following morning, and saying how much I thought you lot would love the pieces.
On the honeymoon I also took some pics of a home made steamer for the boating section that I'll have to dig out soon.
Sometimes it's hard to say what I love the most
