I always have a lot of ideas running around in my head, things I have seen and liked or bits of things I like. When I got my pallet, I realised that I wasnt going to get much in the way of decent boards from it, as it was full of cracks, half eaten boards and gum veins. So I had to think of something that needed narrow strips. Part of my idea came from a lamp I had seen at a shop called Loot. It had rattan woven around it. My original idea was more in the shape of a barrel with bent wooden rushes coming up around the sides. This was not a goer, the wood just snapped, so I went to plan B.
Of course, my plans were more elaborate than my capabilities, It was also to have a frog leaping across between the two right hand rush clumps, and there was to be a snake on the inside that would have only been seen when the light was on. I have a long way to go yet before I can carve a frog
Soredust, I think you will find that Underfoots creation had a little more to it than smashing a pallet and throwing it together. It may not appeal to all, but obviously appealed to quite a few.
Bernie, I hope you get into the woodwork more, be good to see you in more challenges.

Underfoot,
Good one mate. Did you know that we found your entry clever and inspiring? I might try to do something similar.
Hey, you should have your own exhibition. These people would pay to see your work.

I think you'll find that's a different object.
