hmmm, I was wrong in thinking that the shadow was not from the sticks, but right that it was not a fake nor a joke either way. Quite humorous stick up, Wongo, sorry...
Undoubtedly to save time, you cheated a bit on this one, though, Underfoot: some parts are quite obviously shaped to produce the silhouette, like the shoe ...

    Hi everyone,

I should admit, I'm most annoyed that I missed all the action of this challenge from this last full week, I completely forgot all about it, shame on me...!

On the other hand, I didn't have to suffer with the everyday waiting expectation, of seen who done what, and who won! some how it did flow quite nicely, as I was reading the posts by its order (from this last week, only).

I'm pleased to see another challenge come to an end successfully, and most grateful for ALL who participate, directly or indirectly!

    Congratulations to everyone, well done!

All entries deserve credit, I was particular impressed with a few, inclueding the winner and the "mirror, mirror on the wall...", nicely done peoples.

Is any other challenge on the making? no idea, seriously!

I shall wait and see, I'm sure the next one will not take longer to develop...!

    Cheers

agreed Soredust, I was more surprised than anyone
although it was made from wood and it did require some work and the emperor was presented completely naked from the start.
I will concede that it might not be considered 'fine' woodwork
my intention from the start was simply to entertain, amuse and exercise peoples imagination a little,
( I wish my sculptures would get such an emotional response)
anyway, my entry usurped Franks mirror, which of course I agree was much more deserving of the prize.
therefore, I would like to offer him the
    inaugural WE WOZ ROBBED trophy
(there is no way yer gettin my tea lady mug)

I was thinking something along the line of the piece I donated for the olive wood challenge. (think Donna got that one)

    (you ok with that Frank?)

and I will post the shadow WIP pics up in sculpture (where they belong)
    cheers underfoot

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

I am humbled by your appreciation, Underfoot, I am very impressed by the skills you display in your sculptures (maybe not so much in this one, as you say...) and would love something like that... I might even want to buy one! .
I am a bit wary about establishing a precedent for something bound to raise controversy like a "WE WOZ ROBBED trophy" though, as you saw this can be a rather rough neighbourhood at times...

I look forward to seeing your WIP. kmthor is still not convinced, you might need to attach a reference signed by your headmaster...

    can do kmthor,
although I didn't document the first one as much as the second (didn't think it would get such scrutiny ) but you'll get the idea.
    I'll post up in sculpture

    Default So...

    ...I'm devastated!

Prolly would have stitched up first place if I had finished it.

    Says it all really.

Except a belated congratulations to all the entries apart from Underfoot who is bad.

Loved this entry, and very nearly had my vote. I hope you finish it. (and we get to see it!)

Bad luck springwater, that was my favourite. If you ever complete it and are selling, I am buying!

yeah well Donna don't get too plucky about the thirty votes between us, if I hadn't been hemmed in by time I'm sure it would have been neck and neck to the finish

I've had little time to spend over the last two months, been more away than home. Nonchalantly, I poked my head in to see how well I was doing during the voting, I left confidently expecting a late avalanche of votes for my entry when its superior qualities had fully sunk in to the remaining voters.

After arriving back home again, I swaggered to the computer fully anticipating the inevitable result only to be dismayed that one hundred and five people had somehow misdirected their votes and only three voters had got it right.

Lost in despair, beaten by a pile of sticks with memories of being beaten before by a wood block on holidays, my world caved in.

I'm still devastated, better take the well worn path down to my shed and see if I can pick up the pieces.

Thanks Michael, good to see someone has some taste around here. You are fairdinkum aren't you? I do intend to finish it, I'm just in a financial hole after my travels and need to gather some dirty dollars to hire a cement mixer so I can impart the fine finish intended for the pieces. I'm still not completely satisfied in mind with what to use to stitch it with as I would prefer a time worn look but don't want it to fall apart as all the pieces together weigh a fair bit and what ever I use will be under that strain.

Let me finish it first and well see about selling it, I'm really hopeless in putting a price on my work, I never have one in mind and find it really hard to align a price for what I think its worth if that makes sense.

Geez it's great to be back home, been hanging out to be in my shed again, off I go, tallyho.

Sorry, nearly forgot, thanks to Ubeaut and the team, Ruffly and Weisy for making it all possible even though I was robbed.
