Out west
Hi there,
I've just got back from being out west at Jandowie for three days, as part of their Timbertown festival. I've been teaching wood workshops, one day with high school students, whittling stick figures like I did at Woodford late last year; and then 2 days with adults, making stick (or rustic) furniture.
I took out 4 shaving horses, a chest of handtools, and plenty of privet branches, plus a slab of silky oak. Although the workshops weren't very well attended, a result of it being midweek I think, we had a good time! Met some very nice people, had a couple of great meals and visited the pub a couple of times...and we even managed to whittle up a bit of furniture in between.
Here is a shot of one of the participants madly at work on a 'horse, which is my oldest and smallest one, but he took to it well.
Cheers,Andy Mac

Hi Andy! I love the rustic furniture. I'm assuming you drilled the holes, and whittled the ends of the sticks to go in them? They turned out great. Where did you get your roo hide - if you don't mind passing it on?!! Or did you tan it yourself?
One of our daughters wants her bed made in this style - maybe by the end of this year I'll be ready to make it.
You're doing a great job keeping these old crafts alive!
Cheers,
Jill
