Timber its crapiarta! Colour is Watyl "stain & varnish" new baltic pine thats been custom tinted by the shop with red, then I added some ebony... while still wet I ragged it off flat then stained once again with American redwood stain(also watyl) and finally finished off with some watyl satin poly(every thing was sprayed on).
Yep dowels were ebonised, and yep its my own design.

Yes the dowels are fed in from the rear, the holes in rear rail go right through... but there's enough play for the dowels too slide backwards and out of the front rails. The racks are only 410mm wide so 4 bottles is about it.

Yeah that'll be good to save me time but with a cab like this some of the staining needs to be done before assembley... plus they get charged more for finishing!
I still havent worked out a way of staining into internal corners without leaving tell-tale marks... any ideas? I might start using Ubeaut water dyes and stain the whole lot as it doesnt affect PVA glue.

Yeah its taken me a while to get them DT's right with the "euro jig" the problems I had before was the actual thickness of the wood has to be exactly the same, my old thicknesser POS wouldnt do the same every pass(were talking +/-.2mm!). There are ways to set the jig with differing thickness but I havent worked that out yet.
How many hours, way too many bout 80-100(biscuit joiner and finishing probs...) it should have taken bout 40-50max!

Thanks everyone for your nice comments and encouragement.

    Nice looking cabnet.

I love the color. it would be a shame if it was made any darker.

For the glass. If you install the glass when you assemble the door it will tend to rattle unless you add felt or a spacers to hold it + if the glass is broken, ouch you have to take apart the door. Best way is to use 1/4 round to hold glass in, just start or predrill your brass nails befor aplying ti to door so it will not split. first. There is a rubber trim that works well. I used this for two very large doors on a display cabnet. It just needs a grove in the rails cut when you cut your rabbet befor assembly. ( grove type pictured below ) it can be bought at Rocker . com

That is very very nice...........so nice it makes me want to drink more wine to justify having one. The color is great despite the pains involved in getting there.

    Nice job

    Looks good Harry,

But one mistake. Your giving it away. Keep it in the shed instead, and load it with YOUR wine. Your'll be very poplular....best shed host for miles around

Bit more work and you can rig up your whole shed with all sorts of gagetry, so that when the SWMBO's come knocking every manly sin is locked away......you know like that beer ad on TV....
