    Default WIP Mantel Clock

    Hi All, just putting the finishing touchs on my first clock.

    Finished Spraying on the final coats of lacquer today, now i just need to centre the clock face and its done.

    The timber is tas blackwood, the clock kit/parts are from www.woodcraft.com

    Looks great Joez and you are obviously impressed enough to call it your first as you have more in mind.

    Lovely timber.

    Did you employ any special routing tricks to prevent any tear-out at the corners?

    Yeah, I'd love to make a grandfather clock out of blackwood one day, but to do it right, it'll cost a packet!!!

    Thank Brian, for the finishing I pore filled the grain with a mixture of timbermate fillers (mixed them to match the color) then hand sanded to 400grit. The finish was a coat of linseed oil and about 6 coats of pre-cat laquer at 30% gloss.
