Hi,
Here is my efforts today in the shop.
I made my first buttons and this is how I went...
Pic 1- Running some scrap cedar through the router table with a tenon cutter installed
Pic 2- Both sides with a rebate
Pic 3- Ripped the pieces in two
Pic 4- Cutting the buttons on the table saw with a stop block
Pic 5- Buttons sanded and oiled up -
Pic 6- I used my domino to plunge the rebates for the buttons
Pic 7- flattening the top (still have more to do)
Pic 8- I placed the top on to see what the overall finish will look like. I still have to cut it to size.
Thanks for looking,
Andy

Most shop bought handles are rubbish. You don’t need a bandsaw, just a good imagination, sharp chisel, sharp knife, maybe a rasp and some elbow grease. Check out some of James Krenovs images on Google, and get some great handle ideas from him. Your Hall Table is to nice to ruin it with some crappy commercial handle.

Sounds like an idea - maybe a jigsaw to get the rough shape then see how I go from there.
Thanks Terry

I agree with Lig, too nice to put store bought handles on. Keep it classy.

Hi all,
Once again it's been a quiet week. I only get a enough time on weekends to get any significant progress done.
Today I had a EKO so I spent a little time in the garage. I made another drawer as I wasn't happy with the first one I made.
I'm hoping to get the top cut to size, the inlay finished and the drawer finished by the weekend. As usual, I'll post pics once done.
Andy
