Woodborer hunting
Went woodborer hunting today and got a result. This little bastard has been hiding in a plank of Tas Blackwood. I made a few cut around the sapwood and I got him. Where is Bear Grylls when you need him?

I always thought wood borers only like sapwoods, so I was a bit surprised to find this one an inch into the heartwood.

What size was the larvae? Giant wattle moths are usually as thick as an index finger and about the length of it. The moth is 4" long and has a wingspan of around 5". I've seen larvae in old, dead, Blackwood stumps. It's said that they taste like eating peanut butter - good I say - I'll stick to the peanut type.

I have heard that there are bugs parts in peanut butter, as part of the process.
