Thanks, Sam! Thanks for the good wishes, too! Yep - one advantage an artist has over the camera - Artistic License to add or subtract what you feel like!!!

Thanks Laudesan! Are you on/do you visit Wetcanvas? I just checked it out recently, as John (on here) mentioned it. I'm on another art forum, though - Artpapa (also found for me by ThePope, also on here!). Hard to find the time to keep up! I found some amazing work on Wetcanvas, though - new to me - a Clay Scratchboard portrait. Fantastic work - have you seen that one? 100+ hrs of mega-fine work! Amazing stuff. Once this art show is over, any works not sold I am hoping to put in galleries locally, or on-line. There are some more comp's coming up that I may go in for, though - I've been bitten by the bug - hard! Better finish our house off, though!!! Luckily I am just as keen with the building work!!

    Cheers,

    Jill

Thanks again, JJ - I'll try to find some time to get on Wetcanvas some more! I haven't seen silver etching! I've only just joined Artpapa in the last 4 weeks or so. I'll probably see you on AP or WC, also!

I'm not sure on the artists here - John - are you an artist"? I know your wife does fantastic embroidery. And Wayne (ThePope) was the one who commissioned Chantelle to do a pastel work of his dog - as you read on that thread, and was hunting online for info on comp's for Chantelle, etc. and found AP.

Here's my last one, for now. (Now I'll have to get cracking on the building work!) This one is about 900 x 600 mm on stretched canvas. Cliff - if you get to see this - this is the one inspired by your camels. Kind of an odd one for me, but a bit of fun, anyway.

Thank you all for your interest and the encouragement. I finished 10 artworks in 33 days....phew!

    Cheers

    Jill

    Default The big line up!

Thanks, JJ! They're actually emus - but brolgas have similar proportions, so no wonder you thought they were that!

Thanks Cliff - sorry I kept you waiting so long - I left them till last as I wasn't real sure about how I was going to do them. Thanks again for the idea.

Here's the big line up for you to see. 'Scuse our concrete shed floor!

    Thanks so much, everyone!

Thanks, Fred! That's our eldest daughter at the piano. We have 4 daughters and a son - the subject in 'Our little cowboy'.

Well the opening night was last night - something like 380 artworks there from all over WA - and loads of really great work. More than you'd see in a normal gallery. Of course, the ones chosen as the winners are often a surprise - with Art esp. - 'different' makes waves, whereas a lot of the rest of us like realism. I didn't expect to win anything, though, so no disappointment there - and it was great to see all the other's works. Took the younger three kids, too, so they enjoyed the inspiration as well. The Show is open now until next Sat., with all works for sale, so who knows, maybe I'll be awarded the ultimate compliment - if someone buys one or two of them!

Cheers & thank you all for your support...the main organiser was pretty impressed with the amount I put in & the variety & made some encouraging comments about my 'talent', so that was very nice of her.

    380 !
Sounds like a popular show, shame you didn't score a win but there's always next year eh. You ended up with a good variety of pieces too, something to suit all tastes. Be interesting to see what won, you get any pics of the winners ?
    Cheers

Hi Wayne! I didn't take any pics - some galleries/Exhibitions won't allow it, so I didn't want to ask. Being a small town, I'm not sure how many people will be through the doors this week.

We're seriously planning on doing a family Exhibition next year some time at a Resort near here. Steve is keen to make it happen, too. The kids can all have their own section. And the older girls can be the musicians to provide background music. Just a dream at this stage, and loads of work to get there, but we are pretty inspired to do it.

    Cheers,

    Jill

P.S. hope you get that comp. fixed soon - what a pain.
