Thread: Art Show - wish me luck!

Thanks so much, Lignum, Wayne, John and Shedhand for the encouragement and the chuckles!!...but heyyy - I'm definitely no supermum - I'm just doing the things I love to do - but I can never do all the things I plan to do in the time given, somehow ...like the building work waiting for me to finish this artwork, so I kind of always feel I am running behind schedule a bit! No stress though, we have to wait 4 weeks for the limestone to arrive - Steve ordered it today ! I got him to order some paver blocks, too, as I want to build some half-depth alcoves into the wall...even though it will take longer! I should be able to lay the front decking (upstairs) while waiting for the limestone, and finish some other things.
I started 3 more art works today - one pastel - a stockman riding home at sunset which I hope to get finished tomorrow, & 2 oils (the emu shadows one inspired by Cliff's camel post, and a different type one of a koala through a broken out oversized gumleaf, etc.), so next week I should be able to post them, though I'll be going at a much slower pace, then as we'll be schooling again!
Cheers and thanks so much,
Jill

Awesome pic of your son there Jill - all the best for the show. This one will look awesome (and is my favourite!).
Shedhand, I also get lots of good on ya fellas, top bloke, nice work mate. It's funny to read! I guess I use Dan more than Danielle.
Cheers
Dan

Oh yikes, Shedhand!! Neil probably meant to put 'ess' on the end, coz with a name like Jill you really can't confuse it with Jack!
Hi Danielle! Thanks for your reply & the good wishes! This one is my fav' too. I can't wait to do the one of our eldest daughter playing piano in the spotlight, though - it'll be a big challenge, but also lots of love going into it, too.
Lol, too - I was kind of relieved when I found out you were Danielle and not Dan...! Nice to have some other ladies on here, too, with a love for working with the good stuff!
Cheers,
Jill

Thanks, Stirlo - the one of Brenton is my favourite.
Still no more artworks finished yet, but here's a photo of our new calf - arrived Thursday last week. She bonded with us at birth, since we were there, so is as friendly and cuddly as a spoilt bucket reared calf, but without the hassle of having to feed her!
The mother is a Friesian/Jersey X, and the sire an Angus. She should grow well - the cow has enough milk for two calves!
Cheers,
Jill

Lol Skew! I know who to come to when I need some help naming the rest of them!! I guess that thing over his shoulder is his key ring - so he doesn't lose his keys...

Really terific work Jill . If I went to the encylopedia I could maybe find some superlatives that hav'nt already been used , but being the lazy b......er that I am I will endorse the ones that have been given . Look forward to the other paintings.

Lol, thanks Peter - I'm going to have to get a move on to get them ready in time, now! I have another one started - maybe another 10 or so hours to go to finish it?!
Here's a little of it...it is supposed to be a Brahman bull, having escaped from the herd, met by THE DOG. The bull is in full skids, etc. Okay, no mad photographer even would get in that kind of spot even if he was (un?)lucky enough to be in the right spot at the right time, so I don't have a ref. pic. I'll put the tail end of a herd of Brahmans in the distance, complete with another working dog or two, and the stockman tailing the herd in the dust.
Cheers & thanks for giving me the boost along that helps!

I like it.
Good capture of expresion...
the slight difference in the left eye & left ear almost writes the 'thoughts' right across the forehead.
It says "Yoooouuuu ssss......"Cliff.

Jill, I'm sure some nice frames (like the one on your avatar) would help things along on the big day

Thanks, Cliff - loads of work to do on it yet, but it's a start, anyway - if you can see what he's on about, and that's the main thing I was trying to present, then I'll continue with it!
Thanks John - only I'm not going to have time to make the frames this time - with the building work (not to mention schooling, mothering, and all things pertaining to a normal life with a household of 7!!) yelling at me to come and do it (hey Wendy - does that qualify me for your club??!!)! Any that go on our wall won't have bought frames - they'll be RUSTIC!
Cheers,
Jill
