I'm trying to work out why anybody would even ask for permission to use it as a background? I mean, is she expecting the Spanish Inquisition perhaps !

    G'day Gumby,
Greenie launched, purely for recuperative purposes only, you understand. Hope that it works.

thanks Barry. well worked out. do you keep chooks? if yer do then i think the reason you were able to work it out is that some of them are layers too.

    G'day TH,
It was pure asre that I managed to blow the image to pieces & I really don't know how I did it! I've not been able to do it since. ( Not that I have actually tried.) I do have "the Gimp" installed on my 'puter at present, but don't know how to use it at all.
I guess that it must have been the chooks scratching around in the 'puter. Sure hatched a dud egg there though.
    Regards,
    Barry.

Gumby, thank you for confessing that you were not the original photographer. I wanted permission to use the photo to avoid any copyright backlash. Some people, not all, are VERY picky about the use of their photos.
Johnno, thank you for the information on the Canberra Times. I have contacted them to see if they are indeed the original photographer and if I can use it.
You all have been very helpful with regards to this photo. I still feel like Wylie Coyote chasing the Road Runner. It seems as if there is no end to this quest. I am just trying to do the right thing. Sometimes, the right thing is not the easiest or the quickest.

    With much gratitude ,
    Wendy Merritt

    Hi Wendy
If you are only going to use this photo as a background on your own computer then there is no problem at all as regards copyright. It is only if you try to sell the image or use it in some other commercial way that a problem may arise. Apart from that, the owner of the photo has effectively given you permission to use the photo privately by publishing it on the web.
    Use it and stop worrying.
