    Default A bit dry!!!

Thought you might like to have a look at this.
Its Wyangala Dam in Central West NSW (Cowra area). This was taken last Octoberish and although you can't see any water it actually got worse.
Note the usual water level shown on the wall by the dark mark.
As there is very little water we all have to drink beer! A lot of us in this area have been buying water for the last 18 months. They do say that there has never been a drought that wasn't broken by some "good rain". I hope its soon.

Yep I remember waterskiing on Wyangala Dam when I was eight years old. I think from memory we had a pommie friend with us and he had his first barefoot experience there as well.

Sad state of affairs now though.

That would have been about the time we moved out here from Sydney. It sure was good then.We used to ski and sail in thoes days but not lately.
I must admit though everyone is barefooting at Wyangala now. It's too hard to walk in skis!!!!!

    Bloody rough eh mate?

ah well drink more beer!! get a few kegs bathe in beer! get a few mates buy a lot of kegs fill swimming pool with beer swim in beer while bathing in beer while drinking beer... sounds good to me!

Seems theres a lot of dams around Aussie going the same way... Mundaring dam/weir is the lowest its been since it was built as is the Wellington dam and others around West Aus along with I think pretty much every state... as for farm dams out in the dustbowl once called and now laughingly termed the "wheatbelt" theres just bowls of dust in the holes in the ground where the water once was... so its not much better over this way.

I heard talk the other week that the government here was thinking of restricting the water supply to the goldfeilds if Mundaring gets any dryer... And mate? That is their ONLY source of fresh water!!... theyre also going to access the Yarragiddy aquifer down south of here cause they F***ed up the Nangara aquifer... and you know the STUPIDEST thing of all??

The bloody government besides blaming the low water supplies on the drought it also BLAMES the home owner... apparently we use too much water... which is bullchit when compared to the damned government itself and the bloody local governments AND to say nothing of such wastefull water users as BHP and other mining companies who use it not only for the camps but for dust suppression... no not bore water but DRINKIN water!! yet its the homeowner who copes it in the ass for the low levels has the restrictions placed on them and increased costs are forced down our throats instead of charging higher costs to the damned companies and government departments that throw the stuff away without a second thought!!

    But yeah beers good!

Most of the NSW dams are like that at present. Eucumbene down to 16%, Blowering was down to about 7% I think.

I spent my 21st birthday at the Wyangala country club on my first field trip as a hydrographic assistant. Finished up talking braille, then having to drive back to Walli where we were camped, via a stop at Woodstock pub for refreshments.

At that time, they were just finishing enlarging the dam.

Spent a lot of enjoyable time working on the Lachlan & its tributaries - my last work around there was for the Cadia mine.

    Alex,
good thing you're out of the game, looks like work for hydrographers is drying up.

    Boom boom!

Actually, there's always plenty of work during droughts & floods. During 'normal' times things get a bit quiet.
