    Default Chantelle's Art - praise,admiration & thanks

Just a short story on a very talented young lady I had the good fortune of coming in contact with recently via postings made by her mum Jill. Some here will know of the familys current home building exploits in WA and more recently some of the artwork done by Jill and her daughters. All the kids have artistic talent which I have to say is difficult to fathom, that is until you see Jill's work, not only her artwork but her woodwork talents aswell.

What caught my eye recently was the post 'Child's artwork' which originally showed three drawings done by Chantelle, which coming from a 10 year old I thought they were quite amazing. A little later Jill showed a couple of parrots she did, well, the skill and talent shown in those knocked my socks off and that's when I had an idea I'd love her to do a drawing for me on a great dog I had for many years, Ali. I was never going to approach Jill and ask but fortunately later on Jill mentioned setting up a website in the future to display and sell their art. Magic!, I could now put the idea to them and both Chantelle and Jill very kindly agreed to do it.

So here's Ali from start to finish through Chantelle's eyes, and in my eyes she's managed to bring him to life again.
Chantelle thankyou sweetheart, it's a gift I'll treasure always. Big thanks to mum and dad too.

ps: you're going to blow them away at the Bunbury Art Show, good luck

    Cheers
    Wayne

Beautifully done Chantelle, I suppose you have your eye on the Archibald prize already.

I'm sure you're very happy with the result, Wayne.

Thanks so much, Wayne - there's a big smile on a little girl's face, here!

    Thank you, too, Alex!

Wayne has kindly insisted that Chantelle keep Ali's portrait here until after the Bunbury Show (22nd April), so she can enter it - this will be her first entry in a competition. The other children are going to enter some works, too, so we are having fun preparing for it.

    Cheers,

    Jill

Edit: Bunbury Show is no longer having an Art Section. Shame.

Wayne has found another Award for young artists in Perth, though.

They must've learned there was going to be a monopoly on the art awards this year and panicked...

    Lol, Skew!

Bunbury's off, BUT Wayne found another Award - the Shaun Tan Award for young artists, run from Subiaco Library, Perth. They have to be in this week, Awards given in May, and display of the 10 'best' of each section (Preschool - Yr 2; Gr. 3 & 4; Gr 5 - 7; Gr 8/9, Gr 10 - 12) on display until pickup date 28th June. We'll have one child entering something in each section except for the Gr 10 - 12 one! It doesn't matter if they don't win anything - it will be just good for them to go in it for the experience.

    Cheers,

    Jill

What kind of an attitude is that - winning is everything.

If your children grow up with that sort of philosophy, the next thing you know, they'll be doing things for personal satisfaction. Even worse, they might decide to become artists or artisans or builders or take up a trade instead of becoming merchant bankers.
Now I ask you, where would we be if everyone did that?

Lol Alex! Terrible way to bring them up...and to be, alright!!!

I just found out that the Shaun Tan Award is only for kids in the Perth Metro area! Never mind. Nice of them to set it up, just wish there was one for all the country kids in WA as well!

    Cheers,

    Jill

That's insane how good that stuff is.

There was a young boy called Wyatt
    Who was awfully quiet
    And then one day
    He faded away
    Because he overused White

Lol, Mick and thanks. I passed on the compliments to her. No worries about her head getting too big, though, as she is aiming high as far as skill level goes.

Hi all, here is the last one Chantelle (10) did for Wayne. I couldn't post this one on here until he received it as we'd kept it as a surprise for him - since we knew he was happy with the others, we knew he'd love this one. It FINALLY arrived at his place on Tues. - Easter held it up for a few days.

    Cheers,

    Jill

Is much better in the flesh, colours are a litle screwy in photos for some reason. That paper looks pink when it's actually white.

Nothing to do with the photographer, of course , Wayne!!! Funny the colours that come out when pics are taken inside on a dull day with natural light - you get ALL different colours in white!

    Cheers,

    Jill
