Costs were always too high and the fact it was going broke was hidden from the public due to the election meaning any meaningful debate on saving it was lost.

    Nice big boat though
Yes there was a lot more to its demise a lot was political and poor management, the ship bought about $150 million of tourist dollars into the state at a lost of about 23 million not a bad trade off. The ship was carrying an almost full compliment of passages for almost 12 months and the freight was picking up. Go to <st1:city><st1>Hobart</st1> </st1:city>add 4 hours sailing time added costs to the passages get them to Tassie sooner with those tourist dollars to help our economy and keep all Tasmanians employed.
Good to see that you’re a Saints supporter.

Can you get some pics of the machinery rooms?

Yeah, and the gun turrets too please.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

If you are really keen.... I can drag up a whole heap of shots of my time in boiler rooms of Leander frigates, Gas turbine+Diesel+machinery control room of the ANZACS, and of course lots of guns (and missiles)
