Default There goese alot of wood

As of 11:00pm eastern time, we have lost a dozen buildings 2 of them homes and the fire has burned 45 sq km. It is not yet under control yet.

They are hoping winds die overnight and the two water bombers (from outside the province), with firefighters both regular and volunteer, it will be under control by tomorrow. 5000 people have been evacuated. 2500 on alert.

I will post tomorrow, with hopefully good news the fire is under control.

    John

The small photo is from Halifax looking at the fire across our harbour and behind Dartmouth (where I live) you can see the smoke.

The large photo is where the fire jumped a road, enlarging the burning area.
Cleaning my glasses will not make me look any better,
But will make what I am looking at better.

Down here we are well aware of what an out of control fire is capable of, so hope all goes well with you.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Not nice things fires - we had a big one here that lasted for 69 days or thereabouts 18 months ago.

Now it is a recent memory just like yours will be soon. Keep that in mind even during the most anxious times.

Don't just dwell on the destruction and fear but look for the good things - the comradeship, the amusing little things and the lucky things and you'll get by with flying colours.

    We are thinking of you.

Thanks for all the kind and caring words from all of you, that is what makes a strong community, I have found this site to have a very strong community. I thank you for making me feel part of it.

As of 3:00pm atlantic, the fire is still out of control. 2 confirmed lost houses and 5 with damage.

The start of the fire was about 8 km from me, but with the wind direction it blew away from the rural area. I guess you could say a lucky wind for some.

We now have 5 aircraft and 155 firefighters. The winds have dropped and the fire is burning up instead of spreading out. So there is some good news.

I will send a couple of more photos.

    Thank
    John

The second is of a small community called Minesville, not looking healthy there.
The first is an aerial view of the fire, it seems it is taking alot of shrub.

Extreme weather everywhere!. Just watching footage of flooding down in Iowa, while Canada is cooking!

I hope your guys get the fire under control soon. Although we have fairly regular bad bush fires here, they don't do as much permanent damage as Canadian Wildfires. Eucalypts survive a fire whereas the softwoods just become more firewood.

    Take care.
