Indoor REcurve Bow Stand

I shot at a number of indoor competitions last year, where the was not enough room to pass the other archers and the forest of equipment. Damaged arrows and bows, and frayed tempers ruined concentration. The competitor next to me had his bow on a simple but effective stand. I have been working on an adaptation for my Skorten stand over the last week. I have designed in CAD an alloy Y-plate that has a long rod support and a riser support, both in nylon. A bit of sawing, sanding, milling, routing and I just need to polish and assemble.

Routed with an extra detail, assembled and rested with the fully assembled bow. Just needs polishing now.

It is a functional bit of kit. If it looks attractive, that can be a bonus. Form Follows Function. Bauhaus principles.

Ahh a responsible recurver

. I make and shoot longbows and often find it hard to get my bow out of the maze of V-Bars.

A bit more drilling,scrollsawing and routing. It just needs polishing and using now.

I have machined up a bracket to mount a cage and water bottle to appease critics at the club. Allows for better stability due to lower centre of gravity.

Steve from the Blue Mountains who makes longbows, I wonder who that could be. Make sure your dirty longbow doesn't scratch my V-Bars Steve.

Nice job Mike. To make more room just kick all the compounds over into a pile.

PS. I sold an identical Winact a little while ago. Nice bow. I shot with it for about 5 years.

Nice work Mike. Bow stands - the bane of all archers. A narrow profile stand will make you a few bucks. Send it over to Easton in the USA.

Compounds, not for serious archers

. I used to be a recurve archer and got tired of the compounders saying how hard it was to swap from rec to comp. So, one saturday, for a giggle I borrowed my brother's compound and entered a competition with it.
Got the 1000, 1100 and 1200 Compound Awards all in the same afternoon and won. Never shot one before and haven't shot one since.

I also have the 900, 1000, 1100 and 1200 FITA Gold Stars (earned under the old rules (Mens FITA Round 90, 70, 50, 30 metres)before the Olympic round was developed.

You could get better stability by drilling and tapping a solid brass cylinder say 100mm x 50mm dia.screw the stand shaft into the top and the legs near the top edge of the brass cylinder (that way the bulk of the brass is low down near the ground. Hard to fall over in the wind. Just a thought.
