Junk sculpture
Hi there,
Don't know how else to describe it, maybe art cart?! Anyway, I've been busy pulling apart an old Renault 16TS and reconfiguring it, into a chariot. To suit a draft horse.... finished it this afternoon.
I'm calling it Street Machine, but it could be at home on a dirt speedway track, Mad Max style .
It will tomorrow join 15 other artists working with parts from the one car, at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery, opening next Saturday. Surprisingly its called The One Car Show. All welcome!
Cheers,Andy Mac

As Enid says in the magnificent "Ghost World": This is so bad it's gone past good and back to bad again...
(But then, I think that was the intention...)Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

In France Renault are colloquially known as "La Regie" - so could this be called Regicide?
BTW the wheel centres are clearly Renault, and the shape of the ahem! chariot is definitely that of a '16'. Good stuff! I just hope that the suspension is a tad stiffer than that of its donor

I like the chocks on the wheels, like it is going to run away on its own.......

Thanks fellas,
It wasn't meant to look beautiful or slick, when I do my preferred style its very rarely neat or clean! I like the rustic approach.
Hey Ozwinner, the chocks are for real...I grafted the 2 axles together, kept the stub axle assemblies intact, and the rims are pretty circular. It rolls!! And that patch of dirt is on a slope. I took it to town today on the back of my ute after removing the wheels (not the ute ), slid it off and put the wheels back on, then had two of us in place of the horse, pulled another mate in the chariot, down the street, around the block and into the gallery front door. There is no suspension, ziltch, so it would be a hell of a ride at any speed, and maybe the spokes are a weak link, but is potentially serviceable! I'm tempted to make a proper version, with suspension and brakes, and our neighbour has real useable carts and buggies with trained horses...kept joking that I should strap one onto the chariot. That would be fun.
Cheers for now,Andy Mac

Andy - the finished article lives up to it's expectations! Very innovative! I wonder if anyone got pics of you taking your mate for a ride to the Exhibition?!! Good that you had to use SOME timber, too!!!
Cheers,
Jill
