KT got a blue
Just got back from another horsey day out, miss 13 came back with a heap of blue ribbons (1st) and is over the moon, this is her with her doubles friend after getting first for riding pairs (KT, that is what we call her, is on the right on her pony Ferrari)

Yeah, good stuff. Nice to see all the hard work come to fruition.
Was talking to my brother in law yesterday. He bought a horse for his daughter a couple of months ago, knew absolutely nothing about horses but didn't know it
Turns out, the one they bought has a hoof problem (something about the lamina rotting away because of the wrong feed?) and so can't be ridden for at least 6 months while it grows back.
Says he's kind of glad in a way that he bought a dud because he's learned so much about horses in the last 8 weeks  Too much hard work for me, hopefully my girl will be into something smaller or lower maintenance

Laminitus, also known as founder, found in ponies with lots of green feed.
Ponies are pigs and will eat until they are literally full, the green feed sends them right off, must keep ponies away from fresh grass, or at least limit their input.
Once they have had the condition become more prone to it but can be avoided by putting them in a small paddock with no feed and hand feed them.
There is also a product on the market called founder guard which can reduce the chances of this occurring.Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

Fortunately one of his mates is a farrier, so he's getting the good oil from him. Apparently this one suffered from founder, so the guy who owned him before put him in a paddock with little feed and left him alone for a year or so. He went the other way and lost a lot of condition, so when Jeff bought him, he thought the best thing to do was stick him in a green paddock and feed him up.
I'll tell him about the founder guard.
