    Thanks Guys

ooooooooo, my poor head - so many great ideas and not enough leather/waking hours/non-sore fingers to carry them out. I now have a to-do list for leatherwork, ah, well, only myself to blame, but it is fun

lets see, there's the one green one for a lady at work
a leather RR avatar version both as a cover and as a piece of leather intarsia
a special cover for the Code of Practice book which should contain a couple of other important notices
a leather-covered frame for the photo of my Uncle's shed
    a suede-leather line of covers
    corporate interest
and the top of the line has to be a version for Shop Dawg!!

    Wow!!!

Yep, just pinched myself. I'm still on cloud 9...

SeaDragon - - I guess this means it's time to own up. Have you heard of the saying "FIG JAM" ? - you know, gettin' 'figgy' with it? Um, I'm a fan of the movie Men In Black and one of the leads also sings a few songs.....

Maybe that piece of leather came from a relative of this one http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ad.php?t=37852

    cheers & thanks
    Wendy

    Ruffly,
Most adults have sorted out the need to address the "missing bits", but may I commend you for the link. I had assumed you were going to add an ink well to your leather "Australia-shaped" blotter.
As to your question, yes, I have known a few "FIGJAM's", usually people able to do the talk, but not the walk.
I again commend your competence in so many areas. I think you could do the talk and the walk, but your modesty would prevail. You wold be more a fine Scotch (added) marmalade, no mere jam.
BUT, you have failed to confess/be enlightened to the other jiggy jiggy. Tis a tame environment in Qld, but not a celibate one. In an earlier thread, following the Sharpathon, I recall a reference to your progeny.

Thanks Jill, P.T.C and Oges - considering my work (i.e the 9-5 one), that's a pretty good association

They look rally good Wendy, but sorry, I think mine is better.

Before anyone else jumps on me, Wendy made me one a while back - worth the pens I traded for it.

I take it everywhere with me. I've had many compliments. If you want me to advertise them for you, just let me know, I'm sure a few at work would like one.

Wendy, I was wondering if your wrists would withstand a corporate order?
Or is leather work easier on them than woodwork?
    Cheers

Ah geez Tash!! you make me laugh

Neil - I'm so glad it was worth the wait and yes, I do think yours is the best one to date, but wait, there are more coming and more designs brewing too, though I think I'll keep the carved covers for very special orders only.

    Houtbok - Absolutely - Let's talk .

The leather work is a great way to pass the evenings and (very) rare rainy weekends. The best bit is that I'm learning an old craft. It's too much fun, too good and useful a craft to let it die out. My wrists hurt just as much as doing woodwork, but at least the needle doesn't dig as deep as the chisel can

Before anyone frets, I'm not giving up my woodwork, but better yet, I'm about to incorporate the two beyond using leather as a box lining. The ideas are still coming together, but I hope, they will be interesting and effectual.

    Time for some updated pictures:

Pic 1 - 3 brown covers - 2 x A6 size (half a standard size piece of paper, eg photocopy paper) and one flip cover - aim is to fit in a gentleman's shirt pocket ( I couldn't stand seeing my Dad use an ugly yellow plastic one )

Pic 2 - My Leather WorkRoom

Pic 3 - Local SheOak Tool stand - unfinished as I needed it so badly

    cheers
    Wendy
