What Lives In Your Shed
While doing a cleanup and shift around today I came across my friendly gecko behind the first shelving unit I moved, he keeps the shed insect and spider population under control. I have seen him hunting on the floor when I have come in late at night and often see his tracks in the sawdust and he was the inspiration for my business name - Gecko Timber Works. Next to my hand you can see how big he is
Was really surprised an hour later to find another three behind another cabinet, I have only ever found the one before, seems I have a pack of them working for me.
Got me wondering about what local animals other people have in their shed that they like having around.

I only have huntsmans I think. But they eat mossies not humans. Had a possum nest once, but nothing exotic.

I have a blue toung that does the rounds ,we call him bluey , mostly in the storage shed though now the workshop , other wise when he's not around daddy long legs, I get the odd other spider and roaches , we call them dead

Anything moves in my shed it has to be dealt with, you can not have critters around if you are into french polishing Exterminate !!!

I'm sure I've got a ghecko or maybe two in my shed. If not, then I need a few more as they are not keeping the spider population down as low as I'd prefer.
HWMNBO's got Stumpy, the blue tongue lizard, who rustles around his sched quire happily. Stumpy seems to love the smell of kerosene though, he always comes out of hiding when HWMNBO's washing car parts.Box Challenge 2011 - Check out the amazing Boxes!

I've almost finished my new shed but where I built it I have seen deer, wombats, roos, JMMs DJs, Robbos, Jows and echidnas.
I guess most will need to detour slightly now apart from the JMMs, DJs, Robbos and Jows- Wood Borer

My shop is attached to the house and we have the "bug" man
come every three months, so a fly now and then or a neighbor
hood kid is the only pests I have to deal with.

G'day Mike, funny you should ask. I was pulling out some figured redgum boards yesterday to sell and found a metre long Red bellied black snake lurking against the back wall . He was very docile but still not good to have him around with two adventurous little boys around (18mths and 3 years). Rang the local snake man and he grabbed him for relocation. I guess that's going to be a problem when you live in the middle of a bloody big paddock.....but arrrhhh the serenity

I hate to think what lurks in the dark corners of my shed. I have a cat that spends a lot of her time in the shed which makes me wonder sometimes.
