Default Sir Stinkalot at Rockler Boston!

Thanks to some careful planning of our current holiday I was able to make the subway trip out one cold morning in Boston to Rockler Hardware. Dressed in two beanies, long johns, merino shirt, wind proof jumper, scarf, leather and merino gloves and it was still cold

The Stinkette was kind enough to come along to take the photo ...... we did feel quite stupid posing for photos out the front so it was just a quick shot where we couldn't be seen.

The store ...... wow ..... why cant we get that in Australia? Well stocked ..... although not much machinery. Some impressive products actually made by Rockler which was good to see. It was the sort of place that you could just spend the afternoon walking around looking at the small bits and bobs. It was difficult as I didn't really need anything but it would have been a great store to be able to drop by on a regular basis and just pick up a few things.

I was a good boy and given I needed to carry my goodies in a backpack for the next few weeks I only bought two items ..... Bench Cookies (Rockler Bench Cookies: Lift, Grip and Protect! - Rockler Woodworking Tools) and an Incra Clamp (INCRA Jig & Fixture Components :: Build-It System :: Build-It Clamp). I did pick up the catalogue and after reading it on the train I am kicking myself I didn't purchase a few other items. On reflection I should have added as a minimum ON SALE! - Universal Fence Clamps - Rockler Woodworking Tools and ON SALE! - 48'' Universal T-Track and Hold Down Clamps - Rockler Woodworking Tools although the clamps do not look as fancy as the Incras.

Was planning on purchasing a couple of Incra 1000HD miter gauges (Incra Miter 1000HD Miter Gauge - Rockler Woodworking Tools) but unfortunately they had an internet only special the week before $129 and seem to have sold out. I would have been happy to carry those home given the huge saving even at full RRP.

If only postage to Australia wasn't so much

I have been trying to locate other outlets along the way but no luck unfortunately (why don't they do much woodwork in Manhattan?) ....... anybody know anywhere good in Mexico City?

    Cheers

    Stinky.

You lucky bloke standing in the freezing cold just to be able to go into a Rockler store I need some Bench Cookies myself.

Could have been worse, you might have got stuck in 10' of snow and needed a snowplough to come along. There's a lot to be said for not living where it's that cold, except sometimes I wonder about living this close to Antartica.

Hi Rockler …... welcome to our forums (first post!). I am sure that our members would be very interested in your future contributions perhaps detailing some of the products that have been developed by Rockler (eg Bench Cookies).

Towards the end of our holidays (very soon unfortunately) we are hiring a car to visit the Sonoma Valley in CA …. just trying to map out how I might be able to get to another Rockler store or at least a reseller!

Waldo ..... very happy to live away from the cold ..... I have never been as cold in my life in some of the places we have recently visited. My first real encounter with snow was New York City on NYE ..... not a bad place just around the corner from the hotel. I was going to fill my bag with Cookies as I thought that they would be popular when I got home but they are heavy little buggers

    Cheers

    Bugger.

Don't go trying to hide them on your body when you board the plane as you never know what might happen.

Snowed up at Lake Mountain yesterday.
