    Default Advice - Cordless Phones

    Hi,

We purchased a set (two) of Uniden cordless phones about 3/4 weeks ago. However, I am going to return them (to the shop we purchased them from) later on in the week because they are as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Whenever using one in service near our laptop the ADSL cuts out and we have to reboot the modem to get on the internet again. Also when we receive calls we very often get remarks from people at the other end stating they are either hearing a echo noise or our voice is breaking up.

I had a Panasonic cordless previously and NEVER had any problems what so ever. Has anyone else had these type of problems with theirs especially if they were Unidens? My wife bought them given that the shop assistant was very impressed by there products (being a specialist in making only telephone products).

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers
    Metal Head

Can you change the frequency they use on that model?

Just purchased a three part Pansonic phone set up (one base station +2 remote handsets )from jb hi fi ,was told that the reception frequency they work on would interfere with my computer (cant recall the frequency) but I have filters on both my standard hand set and computer and they work fine.
Maybe this is your problem, the more expensive panasonics dont seem to have this problem.
    hope this helps
Had a Uniden with answering machine, first electrical storm we had "she no work no more"ended up in the scrap bin

If you have a wireless net, which uses the 2.4ghz band, then buy the 5ghz band portable phones.

Had a problem with my panasonic cordless phone answering machine the broadband was interfering with the sound.
Contacted Bigpond and they updated me to a later model filter, this fixed the problem.

Also previously had a uniden system. The sound in the handpiece had a very tinny go to it so updated to the panasonc 5.8GHz.
Hope this may be some help.

We have a Panasonic 5.8GHz base + 3 hansets, and have no problems with walking down the street and having a conversation on them, nor have they caused any problems with our wireless network.

Thumbs up for Panasonic from me.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

I have a uniden cordless phone (set of three) 5.8GHz and have had no problems with the computor or anything else It sounds more like a line problem, with ADSL 1 or 2 if you use the same line for your phone you need to have filter on the phone line.
