Aldi LED Lights
I have looked at installing some LED lights into my most used sockets, but have not done so due to cost. Additionally, the most used ones have dimmers on them, which are around the 20 yr old vintage and which my research says are not LED compatible. Yesterday I decided to try the Aldi ones which are claimed to be dimmable, but do not state any dimmer compatible issues. The ones I purchased are 1065 lumens, supposedly 75wt equivalent, and which were priced at an affordable $9.95 each. So far I have fitted two of them, and they function brilliantly (sorry for the pun). They dim fine down to a fairly low level (not as low as incandescent), and start okay at the dimmed setting. I couldn't be happier.

OK, I'm not the sharpest tack in the box. We did an addition to the house. I said to put in dimmers and make them CFL compatible. Considering sharp tacks, fluorescent dimmers don't really work all that well.
So every lamp and fixture in the house has been replaced with LED bulbs. We like the cool white (Which is really hot in Kelvin terms.) color of the lights. As for the dimmers, they do work on LED replacement bulbs we never really use them and when they blow out, they will be replaced with ordinary switches.

I find it interesting to put a date on the globe when changed over. We replaced 4x halogen lights with Bunnings LEDs. Initially all good but they have faded badly since installed. As they have all faded gradually its hard to tell the difference until they are replaced. I am convinced by dedicated LED fixtures but don't feel replacement globes are as effective.
