Default Alternatives to tiles on deck

We are building a house and it’s time to think about how to finish the deck. It’s a large second floor triangular shaped deck of about 52sqm. The frame Is structural steel and timber lvl with scyon floor. It is fully covered with a roof about 2800 above. We never really questioned that it would be waterproofed, screeded and then tiled.

The problem is I hate tiles - and especially I hate grout.

So now I’m wondering about alternatives.

    Is there any alternative?

One tradesperson suggested some type of suspended timber which sits on a framework which itself rests on the waterproofing. That is something to investigate.

Any ideas anyone. All things considered.

    Cheers

A suggested you can do a timber deck on batterns or another option we have used is 600m2 stone ( or similar) pavers suspended on levelling pads.

When I redid one of my decks, I used ModWood (Timber Decking & Fencing Company: Melbourne, Brisbane & Sydney >> ModWood). As I wanted a waterproof surface, I rebated each board on edges and abutting ends, then caulked it so it looks like a ship's deck. No maintenance, and no UV issues after more than a decade in service.
