    Default Bah! Humbug! Competition.

True to the spirit of grumpy old bastards at Christmas-time, here's a grumpy old bastards' competition.

Using only the letters in the phrase: Bah! Humbug! - how many word combinations can you construct?

The winner won't necessarily be he/she who comes up with the greatest number of combinations. Humour, wit, skill and adherence to the spirit of grumpiness will attract bonus points.

The judges' decisiion will, of course, be absolutely and irrevocably final.

Closing date: Christmas Eve (24 December for the information of any PC types)

Prizes (there will possibly be several, depending on the number of truly creative entries): Festive and Seasonal jars of that ever-popular wedding-tackle enhancement potion: Max Factor Knacker Lacquer (altogether now: 'It Adds A Lustre To Your Cluster!").

You all know that you are creative and innovative. Do your worst! Let battle commence!

Under the fluid rules of this competition(did I forget to mention that the rules are fluid? - Oh well! ), it is now!

Stay tuned for some instant feedback - and congratulations on your early entry.

    Early entry, Early Exit.....

I think any word with Bum in it should be disallowed except if it was entered after 10pm, (you know when the kiddies are in bed>)

    Off for fluids now.

Here's an additional element. Come up with some subtitles (examples below) and you will earn extra bonus points. Brother Midge has already accrued several of these highly desirable aids to a winning entry, merely by being first in.

BAG BUM HUH - What you might say when rejecting (in a petulant manner) someone with a large and unattractive rear end.

BAH BUG HUM - Mozzie time!

Yours, in the spirit of true competition (where the rules keep changing! )

Lord Driver, methinks even more fluidity is called for.

There just aren't any words of more than one syllable (that I can find) that can be combined with the rest of the letters in the word, and I think I have all combinations of true words covered, so maybe it should be a quest to find words without all the letters being used necessarily.

I remain your humble and respectful servant,

    P

Well, I quickly came up with one, and while not really spelled correctly, I think it's ok coming from the land of bashed, smashed and fadoodelated Engrish.

    Bhum Bugha...

Not even going to subtitle that.

Ha Bumhug - both an observation and an invitation in Sydney's Oxford St.

(Yes I know it doesn't use all the letters. Call it poetic licence )

Y'know, Brother Midge, I think you may be right.

OK - let's increase the number of available letters. The phrase is now:

    Christmas! Bah! Humbug!

Inclusion of the exclamation marks in the submitted entries is optional.

Er .... as previously mentioned, the rules are fluid. Didn't you notice that they flowed past you as you submitted your entry?

Getting there - but you would come across as a whole lot grumpier if you didn't have to ask.
