here goes
milk = fruit + 60¢
roll = milk + 30¢
therefor roll = (fruit + 60) + 30 = fruit + 90¢
Mary spent 300¢, she bought roll + milk + fruit
substitute terms
(fruit + 90) + (fruit + 60) + fruit = 300
3 x fruit + 150 = 300
3 x fruit = 150, so fruit = 50¢
so the roll was 50 + 90 = $1.40 and the milk = $1.10
check roll + milk + fruit = $1.40 + $1.10+ $0.50 = $3.00
do I get the piece fruit??
