    Default Cafe/Bistro/Restaurant Recommendations In Melbourne

    Hi,

The wife and I have tried a few of the places recommended in the Age's "Cheap Eats" with mixed results. Thus I thought why not ask the members here if they have any places they would recommend (or maybe even avoid). Would those who are kind enough to reply please mention if it is a either a cafe, bistro or restaurant - it would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hi Alex,

Any part? This thread isn't just for my benefit but for others who live anywhere in Melbourne.

    Hi Steve,

I beg to differ. Having spent 17 years working at he Uni of Melbourne I have been in most of the various places around there with varying degrees of success. Personally I think Threshermans Cafe (in Faraday Street) is far better value for money than a lot of the upmarket places in that area.

That is why I asked for people to state places by name as certain areas can still have good and bad places in them.

    Cheers

There's a nice bistro in the pub on the corner of Lennox St. & Richmond Terrace, Richmond.
In Bridge Rd. Richmond there are quite a few good restaurants - Djakarta for one, but there are plenty of others - Italian, Vietnamese, Lebanese (with belly dancer).
