    Do not call register.

    I tried to register in the do not call register to stop the nuisance phone calls.

    I tried to stop all calls to Vic and Tass by registering all phone numbers with the wild card, but it wouldnt let me.

    03********, why is that, do the government get a kickback?

    I registered Friday, I think. The site kind of locked up at the end, I guess a lot of other people were doing the same.

    They say you can only put 10 phone numbers per email address, something like that. But there was only space for three, which was enough for me.

    A great idea, and long overdue. Hopefully it will be well executed.

    Well it does kind of defeat the purpose of the register in the first place. The purpose is to allow individuals to opt out of advertising calls. It also says that you must be the owner of the phone number that you are opting out.

    I didn't have any trouble registering by the way. The first time failed due to the overwhelming volume they no doubt had. The second attempt worked okay.

    We were getting calls almost daily but in recent months, hardly a call.

    Maybe I said NO enough times.
    If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

    We hardly ever get nuisance calls but I registered anyway. You know you've successfully registered when you receive an e-mail requiring you the click a link that activates your registration. When you click the link you get taken to a web page with the message that you've successfully registered.

    Its a crap register anyway. Political parties, religious organisations and charities are exempt. So its a wast of time even thinking about it

    Keep a referee's whistle by the phone, they'll call you back only once more, maximum...

    I 'accidentally' put the phone down to answer the door, went across the road, gave advice on what was wrong with the neighbour's car, fixed it, ended up having a beer with him, and when I came back in the telemarketer was still waiting on the other end! That company never did call me back after that!

    Registered last night, took about 10 goes before the verification recognised the code bit. 29 days and counting before I hopefully no longer receive any calls from telemarketers telling me that htey don't want to sell me anything, they just want to ask a few questions and won't take anymore of my time.

    THe last bloke asked me 3 times not to hang up on him.

    Guess what?

    I did, after politeply telling him that I was going to. (felt sorry for him, I must've been nice that night)

    The government's cynical exemption of political parties, sitting politicians, their 'market and social researchers' and charities means that we'll still get pests ringing. I've decided to make a pre-emptive strike and sent this to my local members and the major political parties, plus a couple of the more persistent charities.

    I tried to obtain from ADMA a list of their members so I could notify them individually, but they wouldn't let me have it. Ironic, huh?

    The attached link gives a good counter-script to divert telemarketers, if you want to take the trouble.
