    Default Car Insurance

Anyone had any experience of AAMI or NRMA for full comp car insurance - currently with Suncorp but these guys are quoting around half Suncorps price.
    Cheers

Swapped everything to AAMI a few years ago as they were the cheapest, been happy with them. Had a house claim when a tree fell on my workshop and they rebuilt the whole lot without skimping.

Strange, AAMI and pensioners insurance are both owned by suncorp.
they paid to much so are now trying to get their money back, expensive.
I let 2 AAMI policies go just recently and went elsewhere.

If you can find out who owns who it will save you ringing them all,I found that if they put you on hold or take a while to give you a quote they are most likely trolling through their data base to see if you are with one of their sister companies.
i have been asked who I am with now,I will not say
I have a friend who works in the insurance game,he once let on that there was only a couple of groups who had many brands(he had had a few drinks then released what he had said and shut up quick) and would not say any more.
In regard to low mileage for a better price, have found that it makes no difference, what has others experience been?
much the same for house and contents.
good luck,it is worth spending the time.

I've been with Suncorp, AAMI & then I found out that they are almost one & the same, in Cairns the assessors work out of the same office.

Currently with CommInsure & I had to make a claim earlier this year.
The claim part was fine, the assessor & the repairer that they sent me too didn't get along too well & it took about 8 days longer than it should have & I had to make several phone calls to get it sorted.
I put in a complaint & to their credit, Comminsure paid for 15 days of car hire even though the policy only covered 14.

If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I just changed all my insurance over to Youi , I got a much better deal than what I was on with Suncorp.

My Son has had his car insured with Youi for a couple of years now , he wrote one car off in a situation that I thought he would have trouble getting insurance to cover it, but they just replaced the car with a new one with a minimum of fuss.

I just tried youi, they were $50 dearer than my current insurer and over $300 dearer than the cheapest quote - plus they have to send you and sms code to complete the quote and then phone you with the quote.
This is the last year this car will have full comp insurance anyway, once my cars get below $4k in value I just go with 3rd party.

I think you just need to shop around. I find that no one Insurance company is going to be cheaper across all vehicles. I have one with RACQ another with AAMI and the other with National Seniors.

Depends on how you value your dollar and the time you are prepared to spend.

Over the last 10 or so years I have found that there is no loyalty to or from any insurance company. They only appear to "reward new business". Every renewal car/ house have had significant increases over the previous year. I have tried them out as if I was new business and often found that the new quote was better than the renewal - when challenged the comment was that there was an incentive for new business. With regards the renewal figure most followed the take it or leave it approach - so I do. I usually end up with a new company each time - I only deal with the majors and have actually been to some of the same as before only with a break of 1 or 2 years between.

This process has netted many dollars of savings but is time consuming.

Agree Bob 38S, I think if you just pay the renewal each year without shopping around you are costing yourself many $$ every year.

I now go through a broker to find the best deal. The modest commission is covered by the savings & with house contents they handle any claims painlessly.
