Default My new man cave WIP

Now that most of my woodworking gear is gone, I've got the money and space to pursue my other interest, photography. I was going to build a Cyclorama, but Ashley won't answer my emails and the missus won't wear the appropriate safety gear. My little studio is going to be 3mtr. x 3.6mtr. no curved edges though.

    Grumpy!!

I see you can't quite divorce yourself from woodworking. I think Ashley has an informed approach to safety: No loose clothing to get tangled up and I love the slow motion screwing.

I think another title could be "artisan meets courtesan ."

Good luck with the new venture. As the world's worst photographer I am starting to appreciate there are aspects I may have missed.

    Default Day two

Finished the other three wall frames and started standing up the frames. Had to make a trip to Bunnies to buy a door and some brackets to secure the first wall so that it wouldn't fall over . A man can never have too many clamps and this was proven today while trying to square up the first two walls.

Ashley has an instruction video on how to clean a Glock. I've always wanted a Glock .

Ahh. "Happiness is a warm gun." Clearly I will have to do some research to see her thoughts on glocks and almost anything else. I can see there is more to Ashley than meets the eye, although still relying on eyesight at the moment.

The 'booth" is looking good and anticipating an interesting selection of pix .

    Grumpy

I think photography could be a hazardous hobby, right up there with sawbenches, thicknessers and spindle moulders. I think you should be careful. You might consider brushing up on some CPR.

    Default Day 3

There's a lot less timber on the floor now and things are starting to take shape . Spent this morning squaring everything up, had to clamp one corner to the roof beams to hold it secure while I nudged everything in to place. Once the plaster's up the clamps can come off. The reason I chose 3000 x 3600 for the room size is because I'm using 1200 x 3003 and 1200 x 3600 plaster sheet and the only cutting I'll have to do (hopefully) will be for the door. I'm going over to my sons for lunch today and to pick up my father's day prezzie, if I get back early enough I'll do some more.

Lunch with #1 son was cancelled, he still hasn't picked up fathers day present . Did some more work on the man cave and finished the framing, fitted the door (Irwin jig for fitting handles etc. is great value*) and added some wiring so the outlets will be at floor level. I'm going to have to con someone to help with the plastering even though I'll have a panel lifter to do the ceiling the 3600 x 1200 panels are a bit big to unload off the ute by yourself.

    Hi,
A small point, the Aus. wiring rules require the connections were you've connected the wires together be accessible.

This all reminds me of when we wired up the ASIO photo room we had to move the power point so they would not get in on the act, nothing gives away where a photo has been taken like the power points in the background.
    Regards
    Hugh
