Not wanting to hijack this thread, I am surely appalled of the "treatment" these thugs get.
A slap on the wrist and a bag of lollies then "go home and try to be a good boy"

Hope your son recovers soon, alas, the mental scars take a very long time to heal


We have a piece and good behaviour order against out next door neighbour.
The other day she tried to run Lee (my carer) over in her car, he was on the naturestrip.
When we reported it to the cops and told them we had CCTV records of the incident the answer was" Do you have sound on it?"
When the answer was negative he said "Well, without sound the evidence is no good and we can't do anything until someone gets injured!!!!!"
That's Queensland police for you

That's not good to hear, how is the recovering of your son?

Instead of the "Holiday Resort Jails" we need Hard Labour back!!
These thugs have nothing else to do than ruin decent people's lives.

What we also need is the "castle" legistlation that several USA states have. In a nutshell it means you don't have to wait to see what an intruder's intent is before you can defend yourself with the same force, you can use lethal force as soon as he/she is deemed a threat. I make no apologies for believing in this, if some one is breaking into my home, they take the risk of lethal force. I shouldn't have to wait to see what his/her intentions are, by then its too late.

Son is recovering well but it will be 3 months before he will be able to do anything. He is luck that his ex has decided to give him space at her place as he has no wish to go back to the house.

Just a correction on his injuries - his jaw did not get broken, so that is a blessing of sorts. No injuries to teeth or nose either.

I hope your son recovers fully. These sort of crimes will leave a great shadow over your son's life for some time, especially if he has to go to court as a witness.
It sounds like he has your love and support and the support of his family and friends, which will be a real help for him.

I assume you haven't spent much time in criminal courts. I worked for the supreme court many decades ago and occasionally had reason to sit in on cases. It's an ugly, horrific, thing our criminal "justice" system. Many cases are in no way black or white, and I'm glad I'm not the one making the call, but the people who work in that system to my mind are numbed to the reality. It pretty much looks like they are acting out a show on stage. It's really really awful.

I don't know if you watch the show "Rake" on channel 2. I find some of it amusing but the courtroom games portrayed in that show look unfortunately accurate to my eye.

My son is up and about! He's actually been doing some less strenuous work on his house and the cast is due to come of his arm next Tuesday.
He will have x-rays on the arm first as i t has pins and plates in it.

His head wounds have healed pretty well and the bruising has mostly disappeared but he will have a number of severe scars on his face as a result
of the attack.

One other of the perpetraters has been caught, and the police know who the other one is but haven't been able to nab him yet.
