    Default What cures aerosol "Expanding Foam"?

    Hi All;
    I'm trying to figure how to fix Mother's favorite garden wheelbarrow. It's one of those light-weight, el-cheapo, garden wheelbarrow. I burst the innertube valve stem by putting too much air pressure into it.

    I've managed to straighten the wheel rim, now I need to "fix" the tube....

    I'm having a bit of trouble finding a 3.00x8 innertube so I'm wondering if I can't just fill the burst tube with some aerosol "Expanding foam"? Seems to me that it'll be dense enough to support the kind of loads she puts in the barrow...

    So, what cures that expanding foam? Basically the foam would be going from one closed container (aerosol can) to another closed container (innertube). It'd do me no good if it doesn't cure...

    Moisture in the air, you can also dampen the inside of the tyre to give added moisture.

    There are aerosol foam products that are specifically designed for repair (normally temporary) of tyres. Finilec used to be a brand name of one, but I think there are many now. I would imagine your local auto parts shop would stock them. In fact I have two wheelbarrows with punctured tyres that keep recurring so I might look into it myself too. In a wheelbarrow situation I think the repair would last a long time.

    If it is the stuff I think it is the SupaCheap has it - not used it before but from memory reading the bottle the tyre should be rotated at a reasonable speed to fully distribute it. My suggestion would be a small rubber wheel with a bolt mounted in the chuck of a drill and placed against the tyre to get it up to a reasonable speed should work for the distribution bit.
