Default Just not my day, another dud purchase

Well, i went off to Bunnings this morning to buy some stuff (as you do) and I came back with a rain gauge.

I put it together, screwed it to the decking rail but the damn thing doesn't work. Not a drop of water in the thing.
    Lucky I kept the receipt.

That's because you bought a pee gauge, try peeing in it, it should work. The rain gauges are in aisle 44, near the blank video and casette tapes and along from the slide rules, washing coppers and hose fittings

    I know what you mean.

My daughter bought a Stud Finder from the same place. Whenever I'm around it beeps and flashes and carries on...... she reckons it's a useless mongrel thing, but her mother just smiles knowingly!

    Cheers,

I've seen pics of you at forum BBQ's

It's obviously faulty or set too low.

Hey Gumby, as the resident video king, why don't you just swap it for something more useful, like one of these handy gadgets:

    I already have one.

Except I imported it. The current runs the wrong way when you plug it in to an Aussie power point so instead of rewinding the DVD, it actually winds it forward. it took me 3 separate DVD's to figure out why they started from the ending credits when i went to play them.

Put the plug in upside down, fixes everything

    I know the feeling, Gumby.
I've got 4 fire extinguishers around the place and in all the years I've been paying for their maintenance I've never found a use for them.

    We've had a good 5mm today.

It''s not registered in the rain gauge because the kit is still in the kitchen drawer filed under "to do when I get around to it". Process is that this must be at least a year after purchase.

I installed the new spring on the pool gate today, about a year on....

Should point out it works the other way too. Woke up yesterday morning deciding parts of the driveway and carport needed regravelling. Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, made a call and had crushed rock delivered within 2 hours.

The truck was still backing down the drive when I attacked the pile. It was all done by lunch.

    Cliff,

It's neither mindless nor drivel, it's more a genuine consumer advice thread I suppose.

I reckon you've made the common mistake, and assembled it upside down.
