It is International Dog Day at our place every day. We are in danger of being reported to the RSPKA (Society for Prevention of Kindness to Animals)
Our Jack Russell mix, Dexter, a rescue dog from Lost Dogs Home, likes to sleep inside his cushion or be covered so gets tucked in each night.DSCF4919.jpg

Our dogs must have know about this day because SWMBO made 2 dozen red velvet cupcakes and had left them on the kitchen bench to cool while she went to do some sewing. When she came back 7 were missing and both Border Collies had reddish masks around their chops. The cake mix had cocoa in it but it does not appear to have done them any harm.

I never realized how bad it is.

During an annual visit with my allergist, I mentioned that the kid wanted a cat. His response was one word, "Don't". Then the conversation degenerated into pets that we already had. "Dog" was my answer. His next question was, "Is the dog a member of the family?" His thought was for us to get rid of the dog to a rescue group. My answer ended that and the subject was never brought up again. My answer was, "Nah. He is the head of house hold."

    Just an observation.

When you get married, you become the most important thing in your wife's eyes. The first child comes along and now you are second with the child first. The second child arrives and obviously you are now number three. The children grow and eventually go off to college. The wife brings home a dog. Oh WONDERFUL the dog has adopted me. This really irritates the wife and now I am number four. The eldest kid comes home during a semester break and he kisses the dog before saying hello to anyone else.

But that is OK because it is the dog that wants to snuggle next to me in bed and when watching TV.

Sometimes we win but mostly we lose.
