Why are eskys made without drain plugs ?
 I mean
I thought the idea behind a drain plug was to drain away the water (the warmer stuff), leaving the ice (the colder stuff), so that your booze stays colder.
But, for the life of me, I can't find an esky with a drain plug ?
I spent a good couple of minutes arguing with the bresty checkout chick ...after she said ....' you don't need a drain plug sir '.

Coulda been worse, ya coulda argued with a chesty brestout chick
ANyway, she was right, sorta, Ya beer will be colder when surrounded with ice cold water as opposed to ice and the air pockets surrounding the beer.
Ya need a drainplug to drain off excess water and add more ice, or beer.Boring signature time again!

Some of the larger 'eskies' do have drain plugs - mainly 'Esky' and Coleman brand units. The cheaper & smaller units don't have drains - the cheap ones because its cheaper and the smaller (under 30 ltr?) ones can be tipped up and the water poured out.
I have also noticed that the cheaper units do not actually have any insulation, the are just a blow molded innner & outer - if you want insulation you have to punch out one of the small plugs & pour in a 2 part polyurethane foam.

If an Esky doesn't have a drain and isn't insulated, it's just a bait-bucket they're trying to fob off on you at esky prices!
There are times when a drain is needed. When it's not, you just leave it closed.
