    Default fish cleaning table Q

as per other posts about a campsite I am managing, the fish cleaning table is an old stainless bench & sink. It sits ?? on a 30mm square metal tube frame why?? and this is (wow surprising) rusting out. I could build one from jarrah timber from my collection but thinking sideways or too many reds. There is enough 30mm high pressure PVC pipe and connections I could make it from, then would this be stronger (and last longer) if I filled each piece of pipe with either sand or crusher dust/dolomite and rammed that it...
    would it be worthwhile?
I would love to grow my own food, but I can not find bacon seeds

Empty PVC under a load (the table) will tend to soften and sag on one of our hot summer days so I would suggest that you would be better of filling the tube with wooden dowel to give it some rigidity.

Stainless steel is cheap these days, not really much more than steel, and you can buy a packet of stainless welding rods easily, go for stainless, snd never have to do it again,

A bit late replying now.... another suggestion might be to make it out of cement.

Make a solid cement table 70-100mm thick. Nice and solid and easy to clean.
A simple mould, a bit of mesh in the middle.

Sloped in one direction for the liquid to drain.

Concrete wood be better than cement. Cement is a gray powder, no good for anything.
    I am learning, slowley.

I do lots of filleting and prefer to fillet on plastic as it’s nicer on knives. You can be careful with your knives but when a friend helps they will hack into the bench or scrape scales ect of the bench with the knife edge [emoji21].

If you reuse the stainless top try get something like this to sit on top.

The perforations allow the the slime, scales ect to fall through and give a good grip on the fish to stop it sliding around.

Also good to place fillets on so they are not sitting in a pool of water (I do not like wet fillets - you don’t wash a steak so why wash a fish fillet?). Also stops them sliding off the bench like on stainless.

If you can make it so all the slime, water ect flows to the sink then runs away from the bench in a pipe so the area doesn’t get all wet and muddy and keeps the smell away if frequently used.
