If you have a close look, you'll realise that they have their heads between the two players in front, not between the thighs of one of them. It's funny how many AFL fans think that way. Could be something Freudian going on there?

I was having this same conversation with an ex-pat Vic on Saturday night. He won the argument for me when he described how, unlike rugby players who stay rooted to the ground, AFL players 'float like butterflies'. I nearly spilled my beer. Butterflies!!

Mate, I'm a sports fan, if they had cockroach races on telly, i'd probably watch it. I find the whole Aerial ping pong V's Throwball V's Thugby V's Wogball arguments pretty amusing and stir the pot where possible.

    Sting like a Bee!!!!!

Might be something about free flowing rather than running into brick walls over and over and over and over and over, opps now do it the other way?

He's just trying to keep himself in a job!

Totally unrelated but I saw Rod Quantock on Denton last night. Denton was asking him what he really felt about Jeff Kennet. He had a few unpleasant things to say but then said at least when he retired, Little Johnny came along and filled the gap. Denton told him he was lucky there were always politicians around to poke fun at. Quantock says "yes, in a perfect world, I'd be out of a job"

Actually, the free-flowing thing is one of the things I dislike about AFL because it doesn't translate well to the TV. I get lost

Rugby can be free-flowing, unlike League which is just as you say, one brick wall after another. Frustrating game to watch sometimes. Nearly as frustrating as Soccer

Good fun to poke fun at codes as it is to poke fun amounst the individual teams, keeps us busy and entertained and rarely a punch throw unless everyone is pussed.

What I want to know is when the next cockroach races are on Dan? Whose the favourite?

    G'day,

At least in thugy you get some biffo, in AFL you put a silver spoon in your mouth and call it a mela (typo?).

"Yes officer, some chap came up to me and hit me in the nose and we had a mela"

    GO THE BRONCOS!

Each of the codes have their moments, AFL with umpires interpretations of rules and flooding. ARL, why do they bother with scrums, RU the way the S'effrikans used to play (penalty goals, no trys) and Wogball with the nancy falling over.

I find with a lot of sports, those who really knock them usually don't understand them. Like test cricket, once you understand the tactics involved, it makes it a lot more interesting.

Waldo, Melee rules are one of the biggest wanks the game has ever seen. Most fans and even players would think they are bullsh it. you've the AFL management to thank for that one...

    G'day DanP,

Yep, agree with that. And the the tosser boss of AFL, Andrew Greekolopigus has a lot do with that IMHO.
