3 things IMO

1. Thomas was swayed by the fear of a mudslug due to rain and took out his tall timber in the forward line which meant that the midfield had to drive the ball harder and sadly our midfield is depleted due to earlier injuries in the season. The look on Thomas' face at half time showed he knew they would struggle.

2. Injuries to key players towards the end of the 2nd 1/4. Xavier and Raphael Clark were both injured, then Gehrig did an ankle and could barely jog, Hamil was still underdone. Though some of the injuries to the players were unavoidable IMO there is an issue either with the training/rehab of injuries and/or commitment to fitness. Sydney particularly has a dream run without injury and though it is easy to say its just luck I suggest its more to do with fitness training and rehab.

3. The last issue is with Milne. The unpredictability of his play is fine when the team is at full strength and the talls are firing, but when the games in the balance his style of play causes confusion on both sides.

Without injuries this year we would have been a reasonable chance and overall I reckon we can be happy with the effort from our team.

I watched that game.

Milne - get rid of the selfish lttle twerp. He does more harm than good.

Harves - a legend of the game but his kicking has always been a problem. Keep him for one more year.

Ball - I never knew he had such poor disposal. Overrated, don't you wish you'd picked Juddy instead. :eek:

Gehrig - Did his ankle by doing something totally stupid. nobody else to blame.

Clarke Brothers - never come through when the going gets tough.

Montagna - where was he ???

Nick - good player, shame he can't kick.

The window of golden opportunity has closed on the Saints. They now have to make some hard decisions and rebuild.

At half time I thought the Saints looked too tired to be able to finish strongly, they held on ok till the last quarter and didn't have the strength to finish the fourth.
Some tired lads out there.

Should I stick to following "red and white " for the rest of the NRL and AFL seasons?
I have only seen one AFL Grand Final and about fifteen league ones. Confess to thinking in some indefinable manner that the MCG atmosphere was extraordinary and fantastic. Beat all the league grand finals, at SCG, SFS and Olympic Stadium.
