    Default Forgot Gyprocking tape.... doh

    Hey,

We are currently gyprocking our bedroom walls, however, i don't know why but i forgot the gyprocking tape on most of the joins. Remembered it on the corners though. Just wondering if you think it will make to much of a difference if i just carry on... or should i try to clear the plaster and start again?

best to post this at renovators forum which is sister site to this one and can be accessed through link on this site how ever without tape you will be getting cracks with any movement of the house
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs .

Bad news! I speak with the sadder but wiser voice of experience when I tell you that you need to use tape. Without it sooner or later it WILL crack. True, you can then fill the cracks with filler and repaint it but then sooner or later it WILL crack. And then you can refill it and repaint..... you get the idea!

Depending on your skill level with plasterers trowels you could add tape and fair out the plaster over a very wide area and blend it all in. It would still be noticeable but mostly to those that knew what had happened.

Or dig out a groove to accept the tape and plaster over again - though I would say this is a bad idea but possible.

Or you can wallpaper the entire house. Mine, which was first decorated around 1880 used hessian on the corners and the wallpaper went right over the top. Worked real well until the day I pulled the 27 layers of wallpaper off ... Of course in your predicament that will mean laying hessian over the entire wall before you paper it ...
