Default Do you think that Gillard and Abbot are related also?

Obama and Palin are distant cousins: genealogists

Barack Obama and his political arch rival Sarah Palin are related, according to genealogy experts.
A website dedicated to family history has made the discovery while searching for family ties between political rivals, media reports say.
Ancestry.com revealed that Obama and Palin are 10th cousins through a common ancestor named John Smith, a pastor and early settler in 17th-century Massachusetts.
Obama is reportedly related to Smith through his mother, as is Palin.
"Smith was against the persecution of the Quakers," Tyler said in an interview. "He was a very socially conscious man." says Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at US based Ancestry.com.
The awkward family ties don’t end there. Obama is also apparently related to conservative radio host and relentless critic, Rush Limbaugh.
Not to mention the Bush political dynasty, who according to Ancestry.com, could hypothetically claim both Obama and Palin, who are each 11th cousins of former President George W. Bush.

Everyone has 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 great grandparents etc.etc.

If you go back 20 generations ( 400 -500 years?) you are directly descended from 1,048,576 people. It is not hard to find relatives if you look hard enough.

33 generations it is 8,589,934,592. The total world population today is under 7,000,000,000. Go figure.

I just wish Abbot would hurry up and punch her in the mouth so she stops annoying me with her carp. Damn kids.

Not only are they related they are probably royal if they are of English or scottish descent. By 1995 the probability that they were not descended from Edward 111 was less than 1% and they are also descended from the Kings of Castille before 1252 and the Kings of France before 1314.

They are practically brother and sister

Waldo, you don't puch your sister in the mouth. Unless she punches you there first but if she just trips you up and makes you look a fool, the best you can do is suck you thumb and go running in your budgies

If Julia punched me I'd sock her right back, even if she didn't punch me I'd still sock her one.

I think Oakeshot likes the idea of everyone being related with his dumb idea of a big love in at the Big House. him I say.

It's evolution. Some of us have come down from the trees, others are out of their trees. The latter provide us with politicians.
