I spoke to him a week or two ago, so he is still around.....

Maybe he doesn't understand the concept of 'two weeks'?

Isn't about time you got toilet trained? Well maybe not, you're still just 1.

here is the owner/suppiler/filler of the nappies and three photos of the chests - there are 2 chests, both exactly the same. the owner of the nappies is in repose and tahnkfully woke up happy this morning!

the chests are made from baltic pine (leftover crates from Jointer delivery), the finish is walnut stain and ubeaut wax. I will not use Baltic pine again - only used it coz it was laying around. it warps, splits, is weak, marks easily and does not hold shape well. $heety timber suitable for pallets and matches; not fine joinery IMNSHO. However being such a soft tiimber it sands very well and a good finish is achieved.

    the laminated sections are biscuited.

I biought a B&D 125mm R.O.S for this job and verdict on the R.O.S is 8+ points out of 10. easy, comfortable, good dust extraction and STANDARD dust port!!! (R U LISTENING U EXPENSIVE MANUFACTURERS WHO INSIST ON USING STUPID NON STANDARD WEIRDO SHAPES AND SIZES ON THIER DUST PORTS???) a tad noisy - wear factor unknown, has good variable electronic speed, removes a hell of a lot of mat'l quickly. cheap too. replaces my 17 yr old bosch 115mm - I will not buy bosch again I think - the modern stuff doesnt compare with the old (At least the batt orientated stuff doesnt)

the lids have been coopered on a jointer as measured by a small kiddies school protractor and a roughed out template mocked up top full scale (essentially roughed out by hand, pencil and ruler). the brassware comes from bunnies and various other places such as McJings.

the dovetails are machined on a gifkins jig using template size A. The box sizes are the max allowable sizing on a Gifkins without moving the timber along the template. (about 300mm high).

Most ripping and crosscutting was done on a felder sliding table at DIY Workshops (Great bloke DIY Dan is...) other ripping done on Alexs's Carbatech TSB10 for the price of a bottle of port.

My wife made the boy. I helped.

Nice work on the chests Zed. Understand how you feel about the pine, but it comes up weel on those chests.
The urn is a nice dignified design.

    Nice work Mr Z.

The likeness of the little one to you is frightening.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.
