Apparently this would have happened here in WA if households had not installed solar.
Of course its a bit "chicken and egg" with such a significant uptake of air conditioning.

It's a bit more straightforward here in WA as there is only one major base power supplier so failure blame is a bit easier to apportion.

Not sure what you mean.
Western Power is purely poles and wires
Verve and Horizon are mainly regional/country - in WA that's a small market.
Synergy has the rest.

Shopping centres are not just full of shoppers up our way, oldies etc are being told, if you don’t have AC or can’t afford to run it then head for the nearest shopping centre. Currently can’t find a seat or push through the crowds in the thoroughfares, the only places to find some space is in the actual shops.

I guess the new idea of paid parking at shopping centres will ensure revenue.

In many cases the $$ don’t stretch as far as the did only a few years ago. If you only have 1 supplier as most of Qld has you are a captive audience. In other cases you have the problem of excessive debt with many of the purchases bought on the “Never Never” which means that people don’t have the disposable income to “drive” their purchases. An ongoing, increasing problem for those who have never learned to budget and retailers/social media driving the buy now pay later schemes.

Sooner or later someone, somehow, sometime has to pay. Governments can get away with deficit spending for a while but households can’t.
