Default HELP NEEDED TO FIND Seal material for windows and doors

I want to replace old seal material from my aluminium windows and doors. This seal I need is NOT adhesive backed like the Raven brand image shown, it is designed to slide into a channel in the window or door. I have searched the internet and a few stores locally with no luck at all. I need over 40 meters, can anyone help? Picture of the actual stuff attached. (also posted on renovate Forums)

    G'day Groggy!
In my past life one of the companies I worked for used the "bug seal" or "felt seal". For memory it has a rigid spline on one side that slides into the aluminium extrusion.

Contact a aluminium window or door manufacturer and see how you go. If that fails PM me know and I will try and use my past contacts to find a supplier.

Have you tried the maker of you windows or others, they may sell you replacement seals, you would only need a small sample to take along.
    Good luck

This is similar advice to what I received at the stores I visited. Unfortunately I haven't yet located a aluminium window/door manufacturer who is interested in selling the stuff.

OK Groggy! I just recalled the name of the Wool Pile brand that we used. It is Schlegel in Dandenong South. If you give them a ring on 03 9793 4100 they may be able to direct you to a reseller in your area.

If you know the brand of the doors or windows go direct to the Company.
Also Shopfitters use these seals in commercial jobs. One other thought is Obriens Glass as they do repairs and window glass replacement.

The guys over on the Renovate Forums have been helping out too. It appears that "mohair" is the keyword that I needed, now I can find it in quite a few searches. I'll give Alspec or Schlegel a call on Monday - thanks for the help!

Thanks Gaza. It's amazing the knowledge buried away in the heads on the forums. I should have asked this question here months ago.

    Thumbs up Success!

I rang Alspec this morning and ordered 50m of the stuff for a princely sum of $0.95 per metre. Alspec were very helpful and found ways to save me money on shipping and also reduced the cost per metre due to the amount that I wanted. The only thing they couldn't do is provide grey, they only had black and I would have had to order 400m to get the colour I wanted. Since the rest of the trim bits are black I was more than happy with that.

    Thanks everyone for your help

The above is why I love this forum!

Greg, what is the name of the felt that you ordered. I need to get some at some stage as well. Would just like to know what the terminology would be.
