Default Johnny Cash's house burnt down

My partner woke me up last night to tell me that it was on the news that the house that Johnny Cash and June Carter -Cash had lived in for 35, years had burned down.
Johnny and June had lived in the house from 1968, untill their (seperate) deaths in 2003.

The lakeside house, in Hendersonville, Tennessee had been bought by Barry Gibb and was being renovated.
The cause of the fire seems to be when fumes from a wood preservative used in the renovations were ignited by a spark.

I have been a fan of Johnny Cash since I was young, and it is sad to hear of a piece of history being destroyed and lost like this.

Has anyone else noted the irony of the fire being accelerated by wood preservative? According to the Associated Press report, the wp was also used in the interior. Weather's been a bit cool in Tennessee, so likely didn't have adequate ventilation.

Aside from the connection to a master of modern music, the house itself was apparently quite a masterpiece. Next-door neighbour Marty Stuart was quoted that builder Braxton Dixon was "the closest thing this part of the country had to Frank Lloyd Wright." Dixon lived in the house, and sold it to Cash after much much persuasion. I hope there's some decent pictures of the original still around.

thanks for letting me know Tameriska....
there's a lot of history in the house, and wasn't this house the one the Roy Orbison lost two sons in... to a house fire?
    Perhaps, perhaps not.

That was in Hendersonville, Tenessee as well... and JC bought that house.

According to the Associated Press account, Roy Orbison was next-door.

Clinton1, am not sure about the Roy Orbison fire bit.
You are right about a piece of history being lost, although I think that Johnny started selling off some stuff before he died, th try and leave some stuff to his kids without his estate having a big chunk taken out of it by death tax (or whatever they have over there)
If you have seen his videoclip, "Hurt", that was filmed in his own house and dining room from what I know.
