Hi Mate,
Thanks for the welcome. MMMMMM what have I been up to? First off, without delving into the past, there was just too much crud, couldn't be bothered with it. I'm sure you guys will know what I mean. Seems like its sorted now. Work, selling gear, running turning classes, all of which is work, playing with CNC together with Rodm whom you guys all know. He has been keeping the forum up to date with our adventures, although they were mostly his adventures.
Its a bit of a bugger when your hobby becomes your work, then one seems to look for other things to occupy the free time with.
Healthwise I've been going very well , still have my funny vision, deafness and am receiving treatment for my back at the pain clinic, BUT Hey, lifes great! At this point in time it seems like the 2nd cancer op in 2004 did the trick. Heres hoping! LOL.
How are things your way mate and sorry to hear about Mrs Mick?

Hey Midge, thanks for the 'Hi" mate. Its been a while. Most my news mentioned in the reply to Mick. How are you going?
There was definately a link on here as that was how I got it originally. I havn't frequented any other forum. Anyways I have the crashed drive and I'll try and find the details on there. Thanks for the interest mate

Geesh, that goes back 11 years. I believe the 18 official ethnic groups excluding English & Afrikaans all have their language classified as official. Damn it was a waste of money having 2 in days gone bye, imagine printing 20 on official documents and signs!

Thanks for the welcome. I believe a lot of info has been passed through here in the time I have been absent and I hope I'll be able to contribute, but the best thing is that newbies and old pharts al learn from each other. I nver underestimate newbies because sometimes their fresh look at things find new solutions which we have missed and sometimes we are too set in our ways to notice new things.
I'll try and be on more regularly especially as I have a laptop now which means I dont have to be at the desk to use it, but I hate the thing. Somehow the LCD type screen is not good for my eyes at all and I find them difficult to read even after trying just about every possible setting. My personal emails are all typed in font size of either 14 or 16 and in Arial Bold. Maybe I should turn the scren on its side!

Its not what your looking for but sure helps. Ive just finished trying to weld a couple of frames/trollies (?) for my jointer and thicknesser. The bandsaw came with built in jobbie thats . Soon the Triton will sit on something and bugga it I can drag the drill press.

You are a CHAMPION! Thats the file I've been looking for and the video off the site is good enough.
I have to do something about my chaotic shed and just needed to refresh my memory with some tips. No point in spending time reinventing some of the things already covered in the post. Mine is not for a double garage but for a 6 m x 9 m shed, but the principle still applies.

Well buggar me dead!! Old Joe!! How the blazes are you mate? I seem to miss you everytime Im up at Carbetex I did see you at the show but well you were talking quite animatedly with a sheila and I thought Id best leave you to it... Mind you I saw ol Les as well but well... mmm the sheilas seemed to have taken all you Carbetex blokes attention whenever I wandered past!!

Ive just a couple of weeks ago spent a bit of $$$ at Carbetex and one of the things I got was 5 sets of those corner bases that you just add the wood to? $49 each... what Im going to do is cut and weld 2mm steel (same thickness as the corner peices) instead of wood of the required size to the angles.

These will go under the 10HB TS, the 18in Bandsaw, the 8in jointer and the 15in thicknesser, the spare set will be for the "whenever the heck I get time to make it" Router table.. I believe the steel inserts instead of the timber will make it a) stronger b) less likely to flex c) able to hold heavier weights than the stated 150kl thats on the box.

I didnt think I would need it when I put the shed up (same 9 x 6 size) but mate Im well beyond having room to phart in there... so the ONLY way is to put the machines on bases having just bought a mig welder I thought this was the best way to go.

I was up visiting with Derek Cohen a few months back and he has made his own out of rather large chunks of timber and from what he said they worked brilliantly and hes got a rather HEAVY looking old table saw!

Anyway mate its good to see you back and hopefully you will be a frequent visitor again... hey!! have you had a chance to make another harp? that one you made before was stunning... OH!! and by the way with the veneering if you remember I asked you about it before I flew out that time? Ive forgotten the blokes name you suggested I get hold of! But well as we all do when things happen we sort it as best we can and just adapt
