I came upon this link and was wondering if any of you globe trotters took part in the search

    G'Day Fred,
we've been Geocaching for years. Much easier now with GPS enabled phones.
It's not just one treasure hunt. "There are 1,461,637 active geocaches and over 5 million geocachers worldwide." and that's just on the Geo site. There are others.
Anyone can place a cache and load the clues onto the site. If you have an iPhone or an Android phone, download a caching app and search for caches in your area. You will be surprised at how many there are. Some are really clever. We hunted for one in a large cemetery a while ago. The GPS locations put you in close proximity to a certain grave stone, the dates on the grave stone gave you the next GPS location. Some use riddles and clues others are just a straight "find the hidden cache" when you get close.
It's good fun and the kids love it.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

I've done a few of the local caches, and will do more as the kids get older. It's also good idea when you go on holiday to check out (and find) some caches.

We are keen cache hunters as well. Great fun and its usually the younger kids who find them, just to upset the established pecking order .
