PC Video Card Recommendations
Hei Folks,
I need to upgrade to a video card that has tv out so I can hook up the tv to the PC to watch some video files on the large screen.
The main criteria is up to 1600 x 1200 DPI (my monitor will run 1920 x 1440 DPI) and TV out - I don't use this machine for any games except jardinians so I don't need a massively high end card - decent quality for display and video files is all I need.
The card will be going in a P4 1.4gig box running Win2k and 512 ram on an MSI 845 m/board.
I've seen an Asus 9250 for $58, has anyone used this - can anyone recommend a decent card for around $70 to $80.

Yeah Paul, the Asus 9250 will do everything you want it to ... and some ! From what I can tell on the ASUS site it's got TV out plus a DVI output which will allow you to connect your DVI compatible LCD monitor at a later stage or two monitors or a mixture of whatever you want.
It's a very flexible card for a great price. Bargain, go for it !

I'd reccommend the GeForce FX5200 (uses nVidia shipset) from manufacturers such as: MSI, Leadtek, Gigabyte, etc.. It's within your price range too.

Just about anything using the 'Raedeon' chip set. Particularly the ATI 'All-in-Wonder' cards, that include TV tuner, video in & out, teletext etc. They may not be the fastest, most gung-ho video cards (well the big buck ones may be) but they work with just about anything out of the box, no need to limp along until you can find the right video drivers.
A lot of chip sets have the problem that they won't work unless you have the SAME version of the drivers that the programmer used, not just the latest set of drivers - used to drive a friend of mine nuts, so he went & bought an 'X box' to play games on.
