Default Today, for at least one person, the ICAC enquiry will be iKACK

The Twitter feed on this has been hilarious at times, and it sure will be buzzing today. Ian McDonald (aka Sir Lunchalot) has his big day, and you'd have to think that several witnesses who've already been up may be recalled after his evidence.

One of the gems from last week was Gerard Obeid, the family Gopher, who has no idea who put a coupla $mill in his bank account so he could buy his house. The Commissioner quipped "the Tooth Fairy perhaps?". The patriach, Eddie, had to be told by his own barrister to stop interrupting him!

Can't fathom what goes on in these people's minds, when they think it's ok to say things like "Jesus may have drawn up those maps for all I know" (errr, he was a carpenter, not a cartographer) or "I've spent more money than you (as a senior Barrister, and Counsel Assisting iKACK) will ever earn in a lifetime". That is a particularly stupid thing to say when you're being thoroughly investigated for fraud on the grandest scale we've seen in this State. Just for the sake of big-noting! They must somehow think that it's all going to go away and so they can treat it as a joke.

    Mind boggling.

Strange isn't it that not one of the numerous Premiers of the period knew anything about it or have been mentioned YET.

Hard to know Ray. I would have thought that the best way to keep it quiet would be to keep the boss in the dark, but perhaps some of the former Premiers may be amongst those who get recalled.

In general I would imagine some at the top in various occupations/industries would prefer to be able to put hand on heart (if not on wallet) and say they knew nothing about it even at the risk of sounding silly. Just my imagination of course.

    Default Not long now....

Macca will be up pretty soon now (just finishing evidence from his former Cheif of Staff). Much talk of "will he roll over", and I've long suspected that he might (you'd have to think that was the smart option). He said to journos "don't worry, I'll have a lot to say".

Click on the Twitter link below - think it'll be an entertaining arvo.

EDIT: Kate McClymont(SMH Investgative Journo) has the best tweets.

    Thumbs up

Remember Lenny McPherson and Co. ? This is a similar comedy on a grander scale.

Pales into insignificance beside the Jack Abramoff corruption in the good old US of A.

Lenny McPherson was an underworld figure many years ago. He and several others faced an inquiry and, if i remember, a subsequent trial.

If it hadn't been so serious it would have won any comedy competition. Lenny begged ignorance of anything and everything, just like the
current crop of clowns are doing.

As for Jack Abramoff, you can look him up, probably on Wikipedia. A lobbyist who ripped millions from the First Nation Indian tribes in the US.

Bet the slimy baskets get off with no more than red faces.

I'm waiting for the Tax Office to get stuck into them, after all, everything they say in now part of the public record. I suspect the ATO is just waiting for this bunch of mugs to dig themselves a deeper hole.

AFAIK, iKACK just makes recommendations but only at State level. However, that doesn't stop the Feds from looking, and asking subsequent "difficult" questions.

    Question

Assuming they go to trial and are found guilty ( on the basis of: if it looks like a rotten fish, smells like a rotten fish and tastes like a rotten, then it's a rotten fish),
    will they have everything confiscated?

Unfortunately they still seem to be able to come up smelling of roses . Remember Allan Bond?
